Related Courses
Web-mining and Data Analysis
Web-mining and data analysis was a course given at University of Agder. The course was closely related to the EIAO project and each student group participating in this course has projects related to EIAO.
The course covered techniques for automatic retrieving and processing of information from the Internet. The form of the web content can determine to what extent people with disabilities can utilize the information and interact with services. The form of the information also decides what kind of terminals can be used, like mobile phones or braille readers. Understanding and assessing accessibility of the Internet content is therefore important, and was the main purpose of the student projects given in this course. Mining the Social Web - Web Mining for Web 2.0
With the widespread use of computer networks (including the internet), gigabytes of data about electronic communication between individuals are now collected and available in large data warehouses, e.g. Yahoo!, Google's Orkut, MySpace, FaceBook, etc. Collected as operational logs, such datasets provide an unbiased view of social relationships between individuals. This gives us an unprecedented opportunity to study large social networks. Statistical model building has been the primary tool for the analysis of social network data till dateWeb Page: Mining the Social Web
